Take What You Need, Leave Your Fair Share

There is a Panera Bread restaurant in St. Louis where the cashiers don't take your money. Instead, you receive a receipt of what your order would cost and come face to face with a donation box, where you are asked to leave your fair share. WOW. This kind of community cafe, is of course, not new, but to my knowledge, it is the first for a national chain. What a simple and brilliant idea. Can it work? Will the fortunate pay not only their fair share, but enough to cover those who cannot pay? And will we be willing to sit and break bread next to the guy who is down on his luck? Would you?
